You don’t need an account, and you don’t have to give us your email to read anything here. We’re a charity, so there’s nothing to buy — the same reason a library doesn’t charge you.

Why this doesn’t cost anything
If something costs nothing, it’s fair to wonder what the catch is. Here is the whole arrangement.
We’re a registered charity. The writing is donated by volunteers, nobody here draws a salary, and our costs are covered by donations. There is no product behind the guides, because a charity isn’t built to sell you one.
Concretely, that means: no advertising on any page. No affiliate links — we are never paid to mention a tool or company. No account or email required to read anything. We don’t sell or share information about the people who read our guides.
And you don’t have to take our word for any of it. We’re a registered 501(c)(3) public charity, listed in the IRS’s public database, incorporated in California, and required to file a public annual return. Send a note and we’ll add you. We don’t share your address, and you can ask to be removed at any time.
We choose what to write next based on what people are actually running into. Tell us what you’d like explained — a sentence is plenty, and it shapes what we write next.
Every guide is made to be printed, forwarded, or handed to a person who needs it. Libraries, senior centers, and community groups are welcome to copy and distribute them without asking permission — tell us what would help.
