Work

You keep a facility, a shift, or a crew running

Turn a scheduling problem you hold in your head into an actual schedule

You hold a scheduling problem that no software solves — who’s trained on what, who’s on nights, which room has the equipment, who can be pulled off the floor without stopping work. Describe all of it in plain sentences and ask for a schedule that satisfies every constraint. Then argue with it: “Dan can’t do Tuesdays, redo it.”

Try saying

“I have 14 people across three shifts. Here’s who’s certified on what, and who can’t work nights. I need everyone through four training sessions in six weeks without dropping below five people on the floor. Give me a schedule.”

Where it lets you down

It will hand you a confident schedule with a conflict buried in it. Check the constraint you care most about before you send it to anyone.

If you’ve never done this before
