Money & paperwork

You’re a veteran and there’s paperwork

Make a VA letter say what it actually means

Not filing anything for you. Making the letter make sense. Give it the decision or the form and ask what it’s actually saying, what it wants from you, and what the deadline is. Then have it help you write the plainest possible response.

Try saying

“Explain this letter to me like I’m not a lawyer. What are they asking for, what’s my deadline, and what happens if I miss it?”

Where it lets you down

It will state benefit rules and deadlines with total confidence and get them wrong. Use it to understand the letter; confirm every number with the VA or an accredited VSO before you act.

If you’ve never done this before
